dance

It is dance recital season again!

I love recitals.  I was in quite a few growing up.  Dance and piano were my arts of choice.  I remember the excited energy, beautiful costumes, and surge of adrenaline when you hit that big stage.

This year Grace decided to take hip-hop.  Believe me, I tried to talk her out of it.  ;)  I am a die hard ballet fan.  I imagined my little girl twirling in tutus and pointe shoes, not neon colors and pop songs.  But I had to learn to back off and let her do her thing.  I am still learning.....  I can't resist throwing in a few not-so-gentle hints on the perks of taking ballet whenever I get the chance.  But so far, Gracie isn't biting.

Grace and her talented dancing cousin, Summer

She loves hip-hop.  Every week she pulled us out the door to get to dance on time, and she said her bright orange/yellow/and green costume was her favorite of all time.  Guess she may not follow in her big cousin's footsteps (or her Mom's), but as long as she is loving it, that is all that matters.  It is fun to watch her find her own spirit and things that she loves to do.

She hip-hopped to her heart's content on Saturday.  She may not have smiled (I think she was concentrating too hard, or maybe smiling during hip-hop isn't cool) but I could tell she was loving it.  She has no fear of the stage or audience.  She gets up there and shakes her groove thang.  I love watching her dance.  :)

Congrats on another year of dance Gracie!  (Her 5th at this dance school, her 7th year total.  Wow!)  We are so proud of you!

With her special 5-year-plaque!  So proud!
